Yesterday was the close of a chapter in my Parallel Lives in Dublin, Alabama. Beatrice McFarland Sankey was buried in the cemetery where her husband Jerry. parents Cora and Roosevelt McFarland were buried along with many members of her family and extended family.
Her son's asked me to meet the family at her home and ride to the church with all of them. My sister was not feeling well enough to be with us.
Everyone that walked into her home could be identified as family because of the distinct big beautiful eyes. I have painted enough portraits of their family to recognize those eyes anywhere. Some of the In laws walked in and I was puzzled because they had big beautiful eyes. I thought they might be nieces or nephews that I didn't know. I guess that is they way they keep that trait going..
Marry people with the same amazing family trait.
Many stories are going through my mind because Beatrice has been around me since I was born. She was quiet and sweet. She was not the quiet shy type of person because we never ran out of things to talk about but she was the soft spoken type of person who was not always trying to get noticed. The preacher talked about how quiet she always was but I knew that she could get stern in a heartbeat if someone got out of line she was QUICK to correct them and set them back on the right path.
She was a firm believer in walking the Christian walk and her generosity and kindness kept her surrounded by loving people. She will be missed by so many people. I hope that we can walk in her shoes as she tried to walk the steps of Jesus.
